Why is Intellectual Property infringement among the most common virtual–world disputes? Is it solely because it’s relatively easier to infringe on someone else’s work online than in the physical world? Does the endless debate about what is “real” and what is virtual complicate our understanding of how laws apply to us in Second Life? Or are we just confused about what our legal rights, responsibilities and remedies are in real life, let alone how they apply to us in a virtual world?
