Paradise Premieres Saturday, April 5th, 1PM SLT and April 6th, 12 Noon
The big weekend is finally here! I can’t wait for the very first guests to arrive so we can show them what we’ve been working on for over 3 months! After last week’s Press Preview, I’m considerably more chilled about the Premiere Events. I’m confident they are both going to be great shows, and well worth the wait! If you have tickets to either show, please join half an hour before showtime in your new updated avatars (we sent an avatar update to all ticket holders of the Premiere Performances – April 5th and 6th.)
IF you want to see a show, don’t wait too long, the first three shows have now sold out and many tickets have been sold for the other shows of this premiere season.
The Drax Files: World Makers [Episode 18] – Paradise Lost
As is now obvious, we worked with Draxtor Despres for the past couple of months putting together Episode 18 of the Drax Files: World Makers Series. This was an all new experience for me as I’ve not ever been the subject of a short film or documentary (that’s probably not all that surprising!), and I don’t have a lot of experience being interviewed on camera.
Furthermore, Draxtor’s format requires on-location footage from the our daily lives in London, when not in Second Life – which was really a lot of fun to film. There was also a whole lot of inworld filming to be done, and it all took place at the Basilique Sim!
I’m not only really proud of the results of what he’s managed to put together from so many different inputs. Short filmaking really is an art and I’ve learned a lot from this experience, working with Draxtor, and helping with the many aspects required from a subject of a piece. Great fun and I’d gladly do it again! And for even more of our behind the scenes chit-chat, listen to the last five minutes of this week’s Drax Files Radio Hour.
Top tips for enjoying Paradise Lost
To my knowledge, Paradise Lost in Second Life is unlike any other theatre performance before it. Because we are taking advantage of so much that Second Life has to offer, many of our recommendations for viewing might be unfamiliar to you. So, I’m going to list my top tips for experiencing Paradise Lost to its fullest.
Here’s the summary:
- Wear your ticket once you receive it.
- Wear all 4 parts of the avatar we give with the ticket, and nothing else.
- Enable RLV in Firestorm or Singularity.
- Optimise your graphic settings.
- Turn on your music stream.
- Arrive 15 minutes before show time.
- Remain seated throughout the performance.
- Stay quiet in local chat during the 3 Acts.
And here is the longer version which is a MUST for ticket holders.
Reviews from the Press Preview of Paradise Lost
It’s customary in the theatre world to hold a press show early in a show’s run. We did the same and shared the opening reviews in a post after the performance last Saturday.
Bloggers get blogging about Paradise Lost
I’ve read some great blog posts from people who came to the press preview and here is a sample of my favourite quotes with links to the their blogs:
I would highly recommend this show to all avatars… A MUST SEE PERFORMANCE! I learned more about the Bible in this 40 minutes than I ever learned in school.. and it was hands down WAY COOLER.”
from Miwa’s four-post series that she wrote in between Acts of the show, starting with her first post that she posted only minutes before the show itself.
“A work I never imaged possible in Second Life”
from Natsumi Kangjon’s post about her impressions about the Preview.
This is actually best production I’ve seen in so far in Second Life… I take my hat off to these eight players… A true masterpiece and amazing work (with a) moment of intense emotion…”
from Les Clairs de lune de Roxaane posted by Roxaane Fyanucci (translated from the original French)
