Here is the latest round-up for news coming from Basilique and the Basilique Playhouse:
Paradise Lost in Second Life
Adam and Eve see each other nekkie!
First up we’ve got a new poster to add to our teaser line-up. This one features a diptych of Adam and Eve, hiding among the trees of Eden, soon after first really seeing each other in their nakedness.
The second poster featured The Creation of Adam, and is an homage to Michelangelo’s fresco by the same name on the Sistine Chapel ceiling in the Vatican. The first poster featured Satan (disguised as the serpent) in the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, holding the forbidden fruit as if saying: “Come on Evie… you know you want some…”
We are filming our third trailer today with Forren Ashford and I’m very excited to be performing our latest scenes: Confutatis and Lacrimosa in front of the cameras. We’ll release the third trailer this Friday and it’s going to be very different from what you’ve seen so far. Our behind the scenes reporter Caity Tobias even snuck out a few on-set photos for the curious:
Caity’s been spending a fair bit of time on set, and even got a chance to meet God and Satan in the flesh! Both could have a bit more welcoming, I must admit, but I think she may have caught them on an off day.
Our second trailer now has over 250 views! Have you seen it? If not, here it is:
Our first trailer now has over 580 views. Here it is if you’ve missed it:
We thought these numbers were great, and then Forren told us she posted the video on her Flickr photo stream and it got 688 views in one week! Gotta love sharing!
Make sure to watch the trailers at 1080HD (use the little gear in the bottom left hand corner to tune your resolution), full screen with the sound on.
Production notes: We have now completed six out of fourteen scenes, including
- Kyrie Eleison
- Dies Irae
- Tuba Mirum
Sets: We’re wrapping up Eden! With Lacrimosa, we’ve completed all the scenes set in Eden and are turning our attention to Hell, where we’ll be producing three scenes, including:
- Introitus: Requiem
- Rex Tremendae
- Domine Jesu
Characters: Last week we created The Son of God and Archangel Michael characters. This week, we created 4 more characters to add to Satan’s posse: Beelzebub, Moloch, Belial and Mammon. I’m absolutely thrilled with the look and presence of these characters – and they are crazy scary! God and co. are going to really have a hard time dealing with this seriously dangerous demonic quintet.
Ihoho, the baby Mountain Gorilla.
Speaking of wild animals, I must admit that progress on spreading the word about Ihoho has slowed as we’ve become busier and busier with the production. (Hint, hint – we could really use some help on this!) Earlier on Friday, I shared a photo of Ihoho cozying up to my house like a ultra-cute King Kong. Why is he cuddling my house? I have no idea – he just likes to monkey around when I’m not watching.
Sponsorship remains available on a per-performance basis. We currently have four performances sponsored. There are still very juicy dates available in the Premier Season, so if you’ve noodled about associating your brand with top quality Second Life performing arts, or just want to give to Ihoho’s adoption through WWF, then contact me to find out how you can help.
Casting Call: We are calling all would-be actors to apply for one of 6 remaining roles in Paradise Lost. See this post for more details on what is required, what is provided, and how to apply. Casting is open for one more week (deadline is this Thursday, January 30th) so please get back to me soon (email is best!).
