In 1975, the incomparable Bob Fosse choreographed the original production of Chicago, a satirical story of corruption and “celebrity criminals” set in the prohibition era. Today, Chicago is the 3rd longest running show in Broadway history and had been shown over 6,600 times as of October 2012. In London, it’s been running for over 15 years, becoming the longest-running musical in West End history.

Pretty much everyone is familiar with the opening number: “All That Jazz”, and certainly one of the best versions ever performed was by that other incomparable performer, Liza Minelli.

Purdie chose to make All That Jazz our 2nd number, and it’s got just the right punch to follow-up Big Spender in a big and powerful way. The animations are brilliant, and her timing is superb:
